Give one hand the worst aces hand you can think of and one other opponent the best other O8 hand you can come up with and compare the scoop percentage results against an unknown board. Hello Pokerbotters,

As many of you know the Cryptologic poker rooms recently upgraded their software, temporarily disabling our poker bots there. This happened about 3 days ago.

Today we posted the upgrade which fixes this, Holdem Bot version 1.5.1. Those of you who have been using our gaming assistance software products for a while now are probably not surprised, unless you are surprised that it took us a whole three days to get the fix out! This is how we roll at Shanky, baby.

There are a couple other Cryptologic changes of note. The bot now plays PL Holdem at the Cryptos, using the pot-sized betting button on the flop and beyond. If you can find this game structure going it’s probably a good bet for the bot. Be sure to set all the NL/PL user options the way you want them first.

The bot will also now play a kamakazi style poker game in the NL games at the Cryptos. This is because it now uses the Max Bet button post flop instead of the Min Bet button, going all-in whenever it makes a post-flop bet. We figured that would be a bit more useful than using the min button, in case you ever run across a NL game there that you want to terrorize. (Please note we still don’t recommend playing NL cash games seriously at the Cryptos).

The small raise issue has been fixed!

We are very happy to announce a very important upgrade for our Holdem Bot. As many of you realize, the only major flaw in the bot’s No Limit and Pot Limit play has been not being able to recognize small raises. That is to say, the bot would sometimes fold to a very small raise after making a large bet because it had no way of knowing whether the raise was small or large.

We just fixed that! Version 1.4.9 has been posted on our site ready for you to download, right now. This version will never fold to a small raise after betting (or raising). You have your choice of what percentage of the bot’s last bet it will always call if raised: 20%, 30%, or 40%. That should be a good menu to cover many different game environments, as you really never want to fold for a raise that is less than 20% of your bet.

Even though this situation only rarely comes up, it can cost you a good pot when it does. So it’s a very important fix for NL/PL games (especially tournaments). As always, all existing license holders get this upgrade for free. You can download it here:
