I started playing Fanduel at the beginning of the season. I never played ANY fantasy sports before. My wife HATES me playing poker. I have won well over $6K in MTTs online. I final tabled my first couple of MTTs at local card rooms, but have probably played around 15 total brick & mortar card room games (average playing twice a year). My wife doesn't see the skill in poker at all! Says she "hates" gambling but is okay with playing slots at the casino when on vacation. Anyway, right when the NFL season started she saw all the ads for Fanduel and Draft Kings on TV and said I should give it a shot! I never really felt like playing fantasy sports but figured I had better play so long as "she" recommended it! Anyway, I signed up for Rotogrinder to help with stats, etc., to help build lineups. Suffice it to say, I am not ahead on Fanduel! I'm not the guy who deposited $30 and won over $2 million! In fact, there is a lot of luck involved. I think the only way to win is to many many different lineup variations and spend extra $$ on entries. Yes, there is some skill, but there is really a lot of luck as well. Much more luck than in poker, which has more skill than luck involved in my opinion. Wondering if any of you play & your thoughts?

Yeah some of us gave it a whack for NFL this season and there is another thread here with our adventures. We've pretty much come to the conclusion that you have much better chances in poker MTT's than making money in the big DFS GPP's.

That said there is a way to win. I think it you need to focus on smaller contests like three-man winner take all triple ups and the like.

Case in point my NBA team scored 270 fantasy points on DK tonight and I didn't even cash in the big GPP I entered. I used the Rotogrinders projected points tool.

Hi Egor,

Thanks for the reply. Smiley I'll look for the other thread. It does make watching all the other games more entertaining. When it comes to the NFL I normally wouldn't watch all the other games. NFL Sunday Ticket is great for checking out all the games at once. Expensive though!

It does increase the interest in the games.  I had some moderate luck in GPPs all in the same week.  The Variance in GPPs is much larger even than Poker MTTs , based on the large number of entrants. Keeping your bankroll alive by cashing triple ups etc. is the best way to afford throwing in to some GPPs ( Close to a lottery really ) .    I have had some fun with it even though, and that is mostly what casual gambling is all about.    beer
