adware is pretty good. more of spyware than AV. combined w/ MS updates should be ok.
just stay away from those porn sites

I get my virus protection through my school for free, but I use ad-aware for spyware and love it.
Has there ever been a problem with any real-time scanning from anti-virus software that has had problems while the bot is running?

i used paid for anti-virus for years i now use avast anti virus with zone alarm firewall....... chuffed with them both

agreed, but no realtime scanning. You can probably download avast and avira and use avast's realtime scanning, and avira if u want to make sure ur comp is clean. What is the point of having an antivirus with no realtime scanning? i guess to help you out once u get something, bet then ur already fcked. It's very hard to COMPLETELY clean an infected pc. There is usually lots of bad things left behind and no program tends to get it all.
